Timber window frame restoration

Window frame renovation includes a wide range of skills and methods depending on the damage or requirement. In most cases, damage such as rot is completely removed, and all vulnerable wood is made sound once again. We replace entire sections of the window frame and use timber from the Accoya® range because of its fantastic properties, workability, and sustainability credentials. It is also guaranteed for 50 years. To vulnerable areas, we apply Tricoya® veneers which give an incredible finish and extend the lifespan of original windows considerably.

Repair frame or replace the whole window

Our ethos is to repair timber whenever possible. This is vital for listed buildings and in conservation areas. It makes financial sense, too: it’s estimated that a timber window repair costs just one-third of the cost of a replacement.

We recommend a window survey to determine whether it is possible to repair, or whether a full or partial replacement will be necessary. Usually, it is possible to repair, which is cheaper than replacing and also enhances the durability of the window.

Restoring your windows is worth considering as it is cheaper than replacement (Full window replacement starts from £1700 per window while full sash windows restoration starts from £520 per windows + VAT) and can often prove as efficient as a replacement.

Restoration rather than replacement is a better option for Grade 2 listed buildings as restoration, in most cases, do not require permission from a conservation officer.
