A glazing bar serves as a horizontal or vertical bar which functions structurally or decoratively to divide window sashes into multiple glass panels.
Traditionally used in period windows—such as six-over-six sash windows—glazing bars support individual panes in single-glazed systems (true divided lites) or are applied to the surface of double-glazed units to replicate historic aesthetics (simulated divided lites).
The system enables architects to construct authentic period designs which maintain modern glazing standards.
