This period property near Chesham, Buckinghamshire carries a mix of original timber sashes and timber casements — the kind of joinery variety you find in country houses that have grown across centuries. After decades in service the frames had developed localised decay, the sashes had grown sluggish on tired cords, and the original single-glazed panes offered little against winter draughts.
We carried out a full programme of works across both window types: sash restoration with frame repair and a complete cord and pulley overhaul, casement repair with new timber spliced into the decayed sections, brush-seal draught-proofing routed into every meeting rail, a vacuum double glazing retrofit behind the original profiles, and spray-applied redecoration for a durable, factory-grade finish. The window apertures, profiles and the building's character are intact.
