This period property near Leicester carries a set of original timber casement windows — multi-pane lights in a classic format that suited the brickwork beautifully. After decades of service the frames showed localised decay, paint build-up had blurred the joinery, and the original single-glazed panes offered little against winter draughts.
We carried out full casement restoration alongside a vacuum double glazing retrofit: timber repair where rot had taken hold, a complete strip-back and spray redecoration of the frames, and replacement of every pane with vacuum-insulating glass (VIG) — modern thermal performance behind the original slim profiles. The window apertures stayed exactly as they were; the character of the building is intact.
